Hi Everyone!

My name is Kaila and I was diagnosed with celiac disease back in January of 2013. A year later I began a blog, GF Life 24/7, filled with recipes, reviews, and positive stories about celiac disease. And now, I am proud to play a part in the fight against celiac disease as a Team Gluten Free (TGF) Member.

Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that affects 1 in 133. While many people know that the only treatment for those with celiac disease is a gluten free diet, many have not seen the ramifications of untreated celiac disease. The consequences of malnutrition can affect all different parts of your body, not just the digestive system. In my case, I couldn’t jog more than three steps, much less run, without experiencing acid reflux.

My diagnosis was key to helping me get back on my feet, and I am thrilled to fundraise for the Celiac Disease Foundation (CDF) by running! I will be completing Disney’s Coast-to-Coast Marathon Challenge by running the Wine and Dine Half on November 8th followed by the Avengers Super Heroes Half on November 16th. Seriously, who is stronger than the hulk?!

The CDF supports awareness and the advancement of research for celiac disease and other gluten related disorders. Early diagnosis is a key part of awareness. Today, only 1 and 6 are diagnosed with an average diagnosis time of 10 years. The efforts of the CDF ensure that more individuals are diagnosed with celiac disease each year, so that hopefully some day no child or adult will suffer from a debilitating disease when diagnostic tools and a treatment are readily available.

The efforts of the CDF are near and dear to my heart. They were the resource my doctor recommended and that I turned to for reliable information following my diagnosis.

Thank you so much for your generosity in advance!
